Creation Camp at Wesley Woods in Williams Bay, Wisconsin is happening this year, and we can't wait to welcome your children back to the great outdoors!

Creation Camp is a four-day overnight camp experience suitable for all children entering Grades 3-8 in Fall, 2022. Small group, large group, and camp-wide activities include Bible Study, games, swimming, arts and crafts, campfire sing-alongs, and more to help us share and explore our faith in God's creation. This year's camp will join in partnership, discipleship, and fun with First United Methodist Church of Downers Grove, offering first-time and returning campers an opportunity to engage in connectional Christian community with children and youth both familiar and new

The cost for each camper is $350. A $150 deposit is required with the remaining balance of $200 due by June 1.  Registration closes May 15. A limited number of partial and full cost scholarships will be available. 

Your registration fee is fully refundable if camp at Wesley Woods is cancelled due to Covid restrictions, or if there are not enough campers registered to make it feasible to attend.

Campers will be supervised by FUMC of Evanston and Downers Grove staff, FUMC high school youth, and Camp Wesley Woods staff and personnel.



Transportation Information

Bus/motor coach transportation will be offered to bring campers to and from Wesley Woods. An additional fee of $75 will be required to ride the bus, and this option should be indicated in the Registration section below.* If campers choose not to ride the bus, the responsibility of transporting them to and from camp will fall on parents or guardians, and arrangements must be made in advance and communicated to Colin or Jane.

* We will require a minimum number of campers and staff to register for bus transportation to make this option feasible. You will be notified as soon as possible if this option will not be available.


CONTINUING COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

All campers and staff will be expected to adhere to Covid-19 guidelines as established by the the UMC Northern Illinois Conference of Outdoor and Retreat Ministries and those of First United Methodist Church of Evanston. All campers will be required to provide documentation of a negative Covid-19 test taken the day before departing for camp.

Additionally, campers and staff must use the church's self-screening policy, as described below:

Have you recently had close contact with anyone that you know has COVID-19 or COVID-like symptoms?

Have you recently had a positive COVID-19 test or been diagnosed with COVID-19?

Do you now or have you recently had any of the following symptoms:

    o A fever over 100 or chills?

    o Persistent cough or shortness of breath?

    o Body aches?

    o Recent loss of taste or smell?

    o Diarrhea or vomiting?

 

Upon arrival, Camp Wesley Woods' staff and personnel will screen campers for Covid-19 symptoms before granting entrance. Thereafter, FUMC staff and supervisors will perform daily wellness screenings. While at camp, the following safety precautions will remain in place:

  • Camp-provided meals (including breakfast, lunch, and dinner) will implement Health Agencies' most current guidelines. Food items will be pre-packaged if necessary, and mealtimes may be staggered;
  • Beds will be arranged according to the latest Health Agencies' guidelines with all sleeping head-to-toe so that heads are spaced at least six feet apart;
  • Social distancing and appropriate face mask regulations will be enforced at all gatherings, including games, activities, worship, and food service. Masks will be required for indoor activities except in cases of socially distanced activities;
  • If any camper or participant becomes ill with respiratory complaints or symptoms, a parent/guardian will be immediately contacted, and arrangements for the camper to be picked up from camp will be discussed.

There are a limited number of partial and full cost scholarships available for campers this year.

(Note: The scholarships do not cover the funding for items purchased at the camp's Canteen store.)
